For decades before the advent of Reel to Reel tape, the Electrical Transcription (also known as an “ET” or “transcription disc”) was the primary recording and distribution medium for radio broadcasting. These 16″ discs represent audio history of events and people of Berkeley, the San Francisco Bay area, and the United States.
CHRS / BARM is digitizing the ETs from our collection and will post the audio on this page for your listening pleasure. Please check back as we begin to post these great historical recordings.
The facilities, volunteers and donors of The Society made this project possible. Please consider a donation to our non-profit organization to maintain its mission to promote the restoration and preservation of early radio and broadcasting. For more information on the ET Project, please leave your questions here for us to answer, or contact the Project Manager.
Thanks for visiting, and look for our downloads on these pages soon.
