Greetings this summer solstice and Father’s Day weekend:First: we need volunteers – you! – to help distribute our Radio Day by the Bay-2026 ‘postcards’ to various businesses around Alameda. This means both Park Street, Webster Street, the former Naval Air Station as well as those firms on Bay Farm Island.
Grab as many as you can and get to work! Let me know if you have any questions or when you can come by Radio Central to pick them up and inform us which area(s) you’re interested in!
This past week, our Broadcasting and Podcasting Summer Camp took place with 20 ‘campers’ in attendance. A couple of them were at both of our camps last year! I had the privilege of showing the campers around Radio Central on Monday. Many questions were asked and our youthful attendees were attentive and fully engaged. We are getting many inquiries from potential volunteers looking to help us make a positive impact on our community. In particular, Jeff Frankel, a former Docent with the Liberty Ship S.S. Red Oak Victory in Richmond, has joined our member/volunteer ranks and will become our newest Docent at Radio Central. Again, Jeff, welcome and profound thanks!
But, we can always have more Docents! If you are interested in showing our many visitors around CHRS, imparting your knowledge, experience and history of Communications, please let me know of your interest.
