Last Saturday, Radio Central played host to the first ever collaboration between ourselves and Bay Area Derby (B.A.D.). Our own Violet Becerra (AKA Hellacious) and several of her fellow skaters turned the CHRS parking lot into a phenomenal, flat-track, roller derby rink complete with officials in striped jerseys, a first aid crew, and a wonderful turnout of fans rooting for their favorites. With the sun breaking out of the clouds, 12 year old Marco Longo literally called the game over the PA. 12 years-old going on 30 was more like it. His vocabulary, along with a very pleasant demeanor tells me Marco is destined for the broadcast booth. Both yours truly and the BARHOF class of 2014, Sam Van Zandt handled the color commentary with aplomb and memories of Radio air shifts in the past.
