 Radio Day 2023
******************************************************************
Some Comments:
Steve,
This is your ‘build it, they will come.’  You’ve created the Bay Area Radio Louvre. And we’re all indebted to you, Len, the whole gang that gives so much of their time. Even if they’re having a good time.
Here I go again. I just want to say job well done, Peter Finch. I’ve directed a couple of Radio Doggers. Great fun. But LOTS of work. Congratulations to you and your crew!
Terry McGovern.
………………………………….It was a blast Steve, and I’ll say it again – THANK YOU – and Len, and all the awesome volunteers for giving us the gift of this day every year. Means so much to see everyone! And man that band is good!

Kush!
What a beautiful thing you have created!
Radio Dog Players! I am so grateful that I could come out to play with you all! Spending time with all of you is so cool.
Thanks for the smiles

Steve, you radio brat, you! Congrats to you and the staff of CHRS and BARHOF and Broadcast Legends, and all the wonderful volunteers. It was great to see such a turnout, and to see and hear such enthusiasm through out the day. (Except for the food line, maybe.)

Thanks for letting me have a few lines (speaking as the druggist — lines; get it?) in A Date with Baby. Peter was an awesome director, and what a cast he gathered. It was a pleasure just being around you.

And grazie to Len and David (Jackson) for their work on the next class of BARHOF.

But most of all, thank you for creating and maintaining these opportunities for us to get together with each other, and with one of the great loves of our lives: Radio.

And don’t forget: Italian Balm, every day.

Steve and all the other volunteers….You guys did it again plus this event was on a higher level!! Wow! Still trying to recover from shock for receiving the volunteer of the year award and standing on stage in front of a huge audience..never happened before. There are so many CHRS members who worked so very hard all year long who deserve this recognition as well in 2023 and years passed.
Now it is time to edit the video recordings of Radio Day. which will take some time to complete for our You Tube channel. Oh,! should get my act together and order a brick.
…..and something else…I’ve been a member of various organizations that go back as far as 1961 (San Francisco Radio Club), but CHRS is the only organization as a member that I feel like we are all family.

Hear hear! Another Radio Day by the Bay, in the books!  Thank you for all your hard work. The volunteers were all so friendly and helpful. Excellent job by Zoey being the official mascot, as always.
Thanks for including me, Steve!

Always honored to be part of it and work with some legends I haven’t worked with, or met, before. Lots of talent on stage and off. Happy to see my longtime friend and coworker Jack Friday get nominated to the Hall of Fame!

What a great Radio Day and what a great group on the stage for our old time radio play! Everybody was fabulous and the audience loved it. I agree with the sentiment that we should do more comedies and rom-coms. Not that I don’t love Sam Spade and his ilk, but the audience really got into this one! Poor Melville! Can we do it again next weekend? LOL Probably not but I would love to. I just hope everyone had as much fun as I did. Thanks for including me in this production and I look forward to next year! Until then this is Melville signing off.

And let me add my few cents! I am so glad I was included in all of the festivities. I’ve missed so many  of the events since my election in 2016 and always felt no one even knew who I was! May still be the case but if so  you all did a great job of “faking” it!
I was honored to be part of yesterday….to have the important role with Ben of announcing the new BARHOF class and being apart of the play! And I loved meeting all those I have looked up to in my radio career and seeing “old” friends as well! Plus it was just a ton of fun! Can’t wait until  we meet again!

Well, Steve, another successful Radio Day and we were doubly blessed by perfect weather.  I know you were working double overtime this last week to clean up Radio Central and it showed.  I’m so glad it paid off!  Many people were complimentary about the building and the events of the day. This only happens when the leadership is strong along with the determination to succeed by you and the staff.  Many do not realize just how much goes into the planning and organizing of this event.  It is exhausting!
So congratulations, fearless leader. You’ve done it again! And, of course, we could not have done it without our wonderful mascot, Zoey! BRAVO, Steve! You’ve earned a rest this week! Thanks for making us look good!

Love, Betty

Hello Radio Dogs 🙂

Every performer, and volunteer staff member worked very hard and did a great job of making this year’s Radio Day one of our Best! A successful event takes a team of enthusiastic people to make it happen. What a terrific team we have! Specialists in making Radio Day an event that is unique and most of all fun! It was most evident that all our guests enjoyed their day at Radio Central. What a great way to raise funds for our favorite vintage radio society. It was a pleasure working with everyone. Your passion and support for CHRS makes us the Best! Thank You! See You Soon, Best Regards & Keep Smiling! Steve

And Wrapping It Up…

CHRS Radio Day 2023 was a tremendous success! It was a day filled with lots to do and see and lots of happy people. It was very good for the CHRS bank account. People were pleased to bid on our auction lots and happy to leave some green for the hundreds of surplus items that were saved from the landfill… and put to good use again. We had 320 people in attendance. We auctioned between 2/3 and 3/4 of the total lots. We rehomed 3 of 4 items from the silent auction. And about 40 to 50% of our surplus found new homes.

Our volunteers were superb, worked hard, and were quite pleasant and friendly according to our guests.

Our performers were in tip top shape and made sure that the audience had plenty to applaud, cheer and… laugh about! Good cheer was plentiful at radio Day!

Longtime CHRS member Dave Billeci was awarded as the CHRS Volunteer of the Year for 2023. For years, Dave has taken care of our video, streaming and volunteering needs. We can’t thank Dave enough for his contributions to CHRS, including his operation of W6CF. Dave will be editing and posting the Radio Day video on the CHRS YouTube Channel. Please Stand By!

Thank you one and all who made Radio Day 2023 so successful! It was one of our Best!
Thank you!

See you July 27th, 2024!
