A Sparton With Provenance – This 1937 Sparton 608 Was Rescued From The Garage Of One Of The 2 Living CHRS Founding Members, Jim Cirner. It Was Restored And Updated By Philip Monego, Carlos Perez And Jim Fink. Then CHRS Presented This Beautiful Deco Radio To Stan For His Happy Retirement Days. We Hope Stan Enjoys This Updated Vintage Set.
Saturday, August 13th, KCBS-AM, San Francisco, hosted a retirement party for former morning news anchor Stan Bunger. Stan was a fixture on the KCBS morning news for 21 years and retired in June 2021. But due to Covid, his shindig was postponed until now. It was a great day to celebrate Stan’s fine career. Stan was very pleased to be able to visit with his former radio family. Those who spoke had only the best words to say about him. Stan was presented with a plaque from KCBS, two posters and a 1937 Sparton 608 radio from CHRS and a certificate from the Mayor of Alameda. Radio Central was full of broadcasters who were amazed by our facility. We hopefully made some new friends and supporters. CHRS is fortunate to have Stan’s support. And thanks to KCBS for their interest in supporting us. Dave Billeci and his cameras were there and recorded and posted the event on the CHRS YouTube Channel. Thank you Dave!
