Frequently Asked Questions
CHRS cannot accept a donation to its collection unless an e-mail or letter is first submitted with the following information:
- Name
- Address
- Phone number
- E-mail address
- Detailed description of the object(s)
- Measurements of the object(s)
- Photograph(s) of the object(s)
Location of the object(s), if you can deliver it/them, your timeline for completing the donation

The CHRS Collections Committee will evaluate the information and determine if the object(s) is/are compatible with our mission and Collections Management Policy and will notify you of their decision. If the object(s) is/are accepted you will receive a formal letter of acceptance and a Deed of Gift form.
As a 501(c)3 non-profit organization CHRS is prohibited by the IRS and the American Alliance of Museums Code of Ethics from assigning monetary value to objects real or perceived. For a professional evaluation we advise contacting a licensed appraiser. To obtain a referral to an appraiser in your area you can contact one of the following professional organizations:

CHRS’ collection is vast and only a fraction of objects is on exhibit at any given time. We cannot guarantee if or when the object(s) will be on display unless it/they was/were collected specifically for that purpose.
CHRS does not accept long-term loans. Loans are accepted on a short-term basis outlined in the Loan Agreement. If a loan extension is required an amended Loan Agreement with new dates will be sent to the Lender to be signed by him/her and CHRS.
