SUMMARY:John Schneider Speaking Event- Radio's First Decade\, 1920-1929
DESCRIPTION:Join us at Radio Central\, 2152 Central Ave.\, Alameda\, CA 94501 on April  11\, 2025 from 6:00 PM- 8:00 PM to learn about Radio’s First Decade. \nJohn Schneider will be speaking about Radio’s First Decade\, 1920-1929 – How radio broadcasting grew from a hobbyist’s plaything to a nationwide communications and entertainment juggernaut. \nDoors open at 6:00 PM.  We will have hors d’oeuvres at 6\, the talk will begin at 6:30 followed by audience Q&A. \nJohn Schneider (W9FGH) graduated from San Francisco State University in 1972 with a degree in Broadcast Communications.  While there\, he wrote a thesis about radio broadcasting history\, beginning his lifelong efforts of researching and writing on the  topic.  He worked for several radio stations in Michigan and California before entering the broadcast equipment field.  In his 40-year career\, he worked for manufacturers Sparta\, McMartin and Broadcast Electronics and  operated his own distribution company.  He retired in 2015 after 7 years promoting HD Radio in Latin America for iBiquity Digital Corporation.  John is a CHRS Fellow and winner of the 2010 “Doc Herrold Award”\, the author of two broadcast history books  (“Bay Area Radio” and “Seattle Radio”) and dozens of magazine articles.  He maintains the  web site www.theradiohistorian.org.   He currently lives in Quincy\, Illinois. \n\n\n				Email a link to a friend (Opens in new window)\n				Email\n			\n				Share on Facebook (Opens in new window)\n				Facebook\n			\n				Share on X (Opens in new window)\n				X\n			\n				Share on Bluesky (Opens in new window)\n				Bluesky\n			\n				Share on Mastodon (Opens in new window)\n				Mastodon\n			\n				Share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)\n				WhatsApp
