Go east on I80 past Sacramento\, take the Elkhorn Blvd. / Greenback Lane off- ramp. Bear right onto Greenback Lane. At the THIRD traffic light\, turn left onto Auburn Blvd. Go a short distance to Van Maren Lane and look for the Library parking lot on your right. Should it rain\, we can go inside. So that the sellers are not disturbed when they are setting up\, the selling area will be roped off until 9 AM. We will move the ropes as sellers arrive. SUMMARY:Volunteer Day + Troubleshooting the All American 5 Class at KRE DESCRIPTION:Volunteers at 9 AM \nClass Starts 10 AM \nCHRS CLASS – Troubleshooting the All American Five – Saturday\, June 16th 10 AM. In this class\, we will take a detailed look at the circuit of the All-American Five\, the most popular radio of all time. After a brief review of the components found in the AA5\, we will dissect the schematic\, one function at a time\, and investigate how each section contributes to the overall operation of the radio. We will find out what happens when a particular component fails\, and how it affects the operation of the radio. This is the technique of troubleshooting an ailing radio. There will be in-class problem-solving breaks for the students to diagnose what kind of malfunctions of radio performance are caused by specific component failures. It is recommended that students taking the course are familiar with the basics of reading schematics and are familiar with the characteristics of electronic components: capacitors\, resistors\, transformers and vacuum tubes. Also CHRS will be selling Coleman ‘Project Radios’. These are radios from the Coleman collection in one stage or another of restoration. Most of these radios have been electrically restored and the cabinets have been repaired\, primed and ready to paint. Most parts are included: grille cloth\, dials\, lenses and knobs. Some are missing knobs\, which you may be able to find in our big knob box. These radios are priced quite attractively. This is the first group of many more to follow. \nFREE HAM RADIO MAGAZINE GIVE AWAY CONTINUES – On Saturday please check out the many ham radio magazines that CHRS is giving away\, FREE! Please take many home. They are vintage and really are snapshots of earlier times.
