From his San Jose beginnings in high school radio on KSJO and his first professional DJ job at KPER in Gilroy at 17, to his retirement after 14 years doing mornings with Lissa Kreisler at KBAY in San Jose, Sam has loved to entertain listeners with stories and corny jokes in between hit songs.
Sam’s career included time in a small Texas town, and more than 30 years in San Francisco. Sam was heard in morning or PM drive on KCBS-FM, KBGG (Big 98), KYA, KNEW, KSAN, KIOI and KFRC from 1972 through the early 2000’s. As Public Affairs Director, Sam interviewed hundreds of authors, musicians, actors and other celebrities through the years. Some of the notables Sam has talked to include Michael Jackson, Johnny Cash, Rod Stewart, Governor Gavin Newsom, sports icons Will Clark, Willie McCovey, Joe Montana, Steve Young, Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein and many more of the most influential people in America.
