About the Camp

Dive into the exciting world of electronics, radios, and wireless communications at our CHRS Summer Camp! This hands-on program is designed for students in grades 6-10 to explore the fundamentals of these technologies through engaging activities and projects. Learn from experienced professionals and gain practical skills that will spark your curiosity and creativity.

Program Highlights

  • Monday:  Introduction to Electronics – Understand basic electronic components and circuits. Build simple projects to see how electronics work in everyday devices.
  • Tuesday: Radio Fundamentals – Learn the history and science behind radio technology. Experiment with building and tuning your own radio receiver.
  • Wednesday: Wireless Communications – Discover how wireless communication works. Explore different types of wireless technologies and their applications.
  • Thursday: Hands-On Projects – Collaborate with peers to design and build a wireless communication project. Apply your knowledge to create something unique and functional.
  • Friday: Showcase & Presentation – Present your projects to family and friends. Demonstrate what you’ve learned and celebrate your achievements

Meet the Instructor

Nga Nguyen has been a Math and STEM facilitator with AUSD for 25 years, including 11 years running the Technology and Design (TAD) Lab at Wood Middle School. The TAD Lab provided middle school students with hands-on learning experiences, emphasizing the philosophy that failure is simply the “First Attempt In Learning” (FAIL). Nguyen encouraged students to build with a sustainability mindset, fostering innovation and responsibility. Before COVID, he also led the Middle Elementary Robotics League in Alameda, based out of the TAD Lab, where students competed in May using the FIRST Lego Robotics League framework.
