Meet the Instructor

Jake Beales is the program director at Encinal High School’s FCC-licensed FM radio station, 96.1 KJTZ-LP, and the technical assistant for the school’s Radio class, working alongside Bay Area Radio Hall of Famer Kevin Gorham. With experience teaching in Encinal’s Radio program, leading Digital Recording courses for the BandWorks summer camp, and pursuing his own music production projects, Jake has extensive expertise in audio engineering and instruction across all skill levels. Outside of teaching, he plays guitar, bass, and drums in multiple touring bands, produces music videos for underground rock artists, and is launching his own recording studio and record label, Nailhouse Records—named in honor of his alma mater, Encinal High School.
