KCSM Movie Wrap Up

by Kim Brickman & Michael Toedman

Last Saturday, November 1st saw the premier of the KCSM documentary celebrating this storied broadcasters 60th anniversary. Screened at the Alameda Theatre, “KCSM, 60 Years of Broadcasting and Jazz” drew almost a full-house of enthusiastic attendees.

We had over 300 in attendance for the screening, followed by a Q&A with current and former DJs and team from KCSM including Dr. Robert Franklin, Melanie Berzon, Sonny Buxton, Dick Conte, Chris Cortez, Harry Duncan, Jill Gorman, Tagg Gorman, James Graves, Kathleen Harris, Kathleen Lawton, Ron Pelletier, Scott Piehler, Rachelle Rabin, Melissa Rohlfs and Joe Romagna.
Afterwards, much of the audience made the walk just up the street to a Radio Central reception where snacks, beverages, and tours of the museum were offered to our guests. And to see Harry Duncan DJ’ing. A good time was had by all including some who bought radios and CHRS shirts from our Museum Store. At first glance, it almost looked like last July’s Radio Day with the assembled visitors to Radio Central.
Special thanks to Gerry Dove, Rosie Lee Allen and Steve Kushman for their help to promote and support the partnership event led by Michael Toedman and Rachel Lee. Also, many thanks to Docents Jaime Arbona, Dennis Monticelli, Joe Araujo, Violet Becerra and Bob Rydzewski. CHRS is looking forward to co-hosting many more similar ‘listener’ events with the stations of the Bay!

So good to see the gang together. I really miss Alesa Clancy, she was the greatest always funny. Really glad Keith Heinz is still there.
I spent several years working on the phones during the pledge drive. So much fun and always good food. I miss being there. unfortunately we had to move away.
Thank you
