The visit was a celebration of history and family. This radio is one of only four built and one of only two known to still exist. Built in 1931 in Chicago by Oliver P. Fritchle who received a patent for his cabinet design. Fritchle was known at that time for designing and building electric cars! After hearing the radio, the Fritchle family enjoyed a tour of the CHRS museum, exploring the exhibits and experiencing how the Fritchle piece now sits among other important artifacts of radio history. We are grateful to the Fritchle family for entrusting CHRS with this remarkable part of their heritage, and to Eric for his expertise restoring the radio, and finally Carlos for his craftsmanship in restoring and preserving the cabinet for future visitors. The visit and the radio restoration were well received and a Fritchle Family brick was ordered. Thank you Fritchles for the long term loan of your radio and for your brick!
