Each year CHRS/BARM presents this prestigious award to people who exhibit “Outstanding Achievement in the Preservation and Documentation of Early Radio.”
For 2013, the CHRS Herrold Award goes to John Staples, PhD and W6BM, for his ongoing service in the restoration of early television, high fidelity and broadcast audio equipment, and his work with ham radio, all documented through his research and publication, including articles in the CHRS Journal.
For 2012, the CHRS Herrold Award goes to Waldo T. Boyd (pictured left), of the Society of Wireless Pioneers, “for preservation of archival materials crucial to radio history and managing the transition of the Society of Wireless Pioneers into a program of the California Historical Radio Society”
