RADIO ADVERTISING IN OCTOBER 1941

Sometimes you can tell a lot about a society from popular advertising. In October 1941, the radio industry was touting large consoles with built-in phonographs. Could it be that all the big companies used the same advertising agency? Do these ads reveal caution, a tendency to not stray from a common theme? And was the use of attractive female models a plan to convince war weary Americans that peace and prosperity here was still possible, this a mere 2 months from Pearl Harbor on December 7th, 1941? Am I reading way too much into all this?
